About Me

My goal is to find the most effective teaching method for each student, to help them to enjoy learning more, by finding out what they have a passion about, and help them to engage in the subjects you choose. Recent Teaching and Tutoring: I have taught in K to 6th grade in Public Schools, Private Preschools, taught online at Epic Charter Schools, and tutored many students for many years. I help my students improve their test scores by teaching phonics sounds, sight words, and fluency, This includes: accuracy, rate, expression, and comprehension. In math I demonstrate step by step, then ask them to try it with help. I love to help students, by seeing when they experience that "Light Bulb Moment," where I can see that they understand! My experience has taught me how to help students learn the objectives for each grade level to build on each other, to gain success. My Teaching Style: I include a variety of strategies, starting with modeling and guiding the students through the skill, followed by practice and checking to ensure understanding. A song may be used to review, or I create slideshows and videos to help visualize and review concepts. My creative approach helps to engage students, and helps my students to look forward to discovering new ideas. I teach study skills, practice, and review techniques to help students develop a solid foundation for lifelong learning. Experience: I graduated from ORU, with degrees in Early Childhood, and Elementary Education, with a Bachelor's of Science. I also have over 48 classes towards a Reading Specialist, also. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family. I have been married for 29 years, have 4 children from ages 16 to 24. I look forward to meeting you!
