About Me

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communication with an emphasis in Theatre Appreciation from Rogers State University. A dream of mine is to one day go back to school and get my Master's Degree in English since that is the main subject I teach. I am passionate about working with students because they are the minds of tomorrow and I would like to leave this world in capable hands. I also just really love English and all things related to it; getting a student to think about a book or a story in a way they've never thought about it before is one of the coolest parts of my job. I have been teaching 9th Grade English for seven years and love every single day. I do believe my strongest tutoring abilities are in Shakespeare, classics like Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, essay writing, and grammar. My favorites of these are Shakespeare and Grammar. I love working with Shakespeare and getting young people to see that he isn't boring and out of touch like they think he is. Not only that, but he's actually even relatable! Grammar I just love because I'm a giant nerd and it makes me happy. My teaching philosophy is to be completely unashamed about how much I love this subject first and foremost. From there, my philosophy is showing why it matters. It is so important to me that my students not only understand what they are reading but why. Outside of school, I like to watch tv shows and movies with my husband, play video games, read, and just be with my young son and our dog.
