I am a graduate of the University of Chicago where I received my undergraduate degree in political science. Right after graduation, I worked as an academic and test prep tutor as well as admissions consultant in Hong Kong. For the past two years, I worked with a number of students to help prepare them for college in the United States.

I am specializing in the ACT. My tutoring approach, while covering test-taking techniques, will also emphasize the wisdom and skills needed to understand the root of the test questions. I hope that I can come alongside you to help and encourage you in your life pursuits.

I am a recent graduate of Williams College, where I studied political science with sidelines in history and English. Next fall, I am headed to Ithaca to study at Cornell Law School. I'm Ellie, and I am a junior at Yale University studying Biomedical Engineering (pre-med)! I have always considered myself a life-long student, and I strive to make learning exciting and empowering for everyone. On campus, I work as a graphic designer for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), volunteer EMT, am the Arts Editor for the Yale Scientific Magazine, am the Layout Editor for the Yale Globalist Magazine, conduct autism research in the School of Medicine, and tutor a Differential Equations course to small groups of students weekly. Aside from my passion for science and math, I enjoy writing essays in my literature classes, designing in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and more and also have much experience writing application essays for colleges and jobs!

I am a rising junior at Princeton University pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy with a certificate in Statistics and Machine Learning. I am highly passionate about education: during the academic year, I serve as a volunteer tutor for the Petey Greene Program, which provides educational assistance to those incarcerated in New Jersey prisons; after graduation, I hope to work toward becoming a high school mathematics teacher. I am a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a Masters in International Educational Development. I graduated from Stetson University with my BA in 2017, and since then have worked in inner city schools. The last two years, I have taught Algebra and Geometry at a charter high school, while managing a math tutorial program within the school. I find great joy is setting students up for success and helping them achieve the utmost in school. I do not only focus on student academic performance, but also on their social-emotional well-being, so they may attain a positive mindset of their day-to-day learning. I have 10 years experience working with elementary kids, including assisting with homeschooling. However, I am more passionate about helping students understand higher levels of mathematics. I am in my second year at MIT studying mathematics, and I am currently doing a research project in Spectral Graph Theory. I have been a tutor since my junior year in high school, and I enjoy teaching all levels of math; everything from pre-algebra through calculus and linear algebra! I focus primarily on making sure that the definitions and processes given in class make intuitive sense, so that math can begin to feel like second nature.

I am a math enthusiast who is passionate about helping students gain confidence and achieve. I began tutoring other students in middle school and continued throughout high school. I believe all students have the potential to understand math, but they can be intimated or have trouble finding the learning method that works for them. I'm a coterminal master's student at Stanford University in California majoring in Computer Science (Biocomputation). Throughout high school and college, I've taken many courses in computer science, the life sciences (biology and chemistry), and math; and I've been through a lot of standardized tests. For computer science in particular, I have a lot of experience writing software in Python and C++ for AI and systems classes, and I'll be interning as a software engineer at Facebook this summer. I'm a sophomore at Harvard studying Applied Math, Economics, and Computer Science. I've tutored in a variety of subjects throughout high school and currently work part-time as a Course Assistant for an Introductory Calculus course at Harvard. I am primarily an SAT and writing tutor with two years of experience and over 60 former students. I have spent hundreds of hours familiarizing myself with dozens of real SAT tests and SAT format-specific strategies. While a tutor, and later general manager, at a boutique university admissions consulting company in Cairo Egypt, I applied my teaching experience to a leading role developing SAT curricula for a variety of skill levels.

I am a recent graduate from The University of Chicago. I graduated with a degree in Political Science with much additional coursework in literature and philosophy. My favorite part about being a tutor is the moment of satisfaction that comes with seeing one of my students greatly improve after a lot of hard work. My favorite things to tutor are the GRE and the SAT, in part because I feel like a high score on these exams should be accessible for anyone if they are given the tools for success. As a former high school and college debater I enjoy having an opportunity to help students talk their way through the various logical challenges within these exams, as well as develop the kind of self-awareness and mental discipline that is essential to persevering and getting those last few questions right.

I am currently pursuing my MBA from MIT Sloan's School of Management. I attended undergrad at at Washington University in St. Louis and graduated Magna Cum Laude with my M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. After college, I moved to Houston, Texas to work for ExxonMobil at a refinery before returning to school for my MBA.

I'm a junior at MIT pursuing a B.S. in Computational Neuroscience, and a B.S. in Philosophy. Starting in high school, I have served in a multitude of teaching/tutoring roles, including: tutoring all levels of high school math (from pre-algebra to AP Calculus BC); teaching a six-week class on psychology to underserved high school students in the Boston area; teaching chemistry, biology, and computer science at a STEM summer camp to 6th-9th graders; working as a TA in a college-level philosophy seminar; and even teaching choreo for a hip-hop dance workshop series! And, though my teaching experience centers largely around STEM subjects, I also have a deep love for history, English, and philosophy, and am excited to work with students in these areas as well. I am currently an undergraduate student at Stanford University, and I recently graduated top of my class from Phillips Academy, a prestigious private boarding school in Massachusetts. For the past few years, I have tutored students of all different ages, serving as a peer tutor, faculty-nominated department tutor, and mentor for elementary school students. I am a freshman at Caltech majoring in Applied and Computational Mathematics. My favorite subject to tutor is math because I find it very rewarding to simplify complex topics to aid in understanding. I have lots of tutoring experience. In high school, I ran and taught an SAT prep class and was vice president of my school's NHS chapter where I ran our tutoring program, and I, myself, tutored. I also was a teaching assistant in the summer of 2020 for a class in discrete mathematics through a program called PACT (Program in Algorithmic and Combinatorial Thinking). I am a sophomore at Vanderbilt University and have been tutoring since I was a freshman in high school. I love working with elementary and middle school students, but also have the knowledge and skills to tutor high school students in AP classes and standardized tests. I scored a 35 on my ACT (36 math, 35 english, 35 science, 33 reading), a 770 on the Math II SAT subject test and a 780 on the Chemistry SAT subject test. In high school, I took AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Physics C, AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, and Multivariable Calculus, and scored a 5 on every AP exam. In addition to specific subject matter, I am highly knowledgable on the college process and know how to strategize to get into your dream school!

I'm Czarina Alfonso, a junior at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. In high school, I was a honors student with membership in the National Honor Society, Science Honor Society and Math Honor Society. I was also a member of my school's Diversity Council and president of the medical club. Since I'm currently a chemistry major/premed student, I have lots of experience with STEM related courses (AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Calculus, AP Statistics). I've also taken both AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature. In addition to my AP course load in high school, I also studied for multiple SAT subject tests (Bio 790, Math 2 770, Chem 770) and the SAT (770M, 770ERW). Outside of academics, I did lots of volunteer work (founded nonprofit called Give It a Shot that raises money to provide pneumonia vaccines to daycare aged children in the Philippines, worked at local hospital, peer tutored at school) and played a sport (fencing) at a national level. I am about to graduate from Brown University with a B.A. in Education Studies. I love working with students one-on-one and helping them feel like they can tackle challenging material. In the past I have tutored elementary school students in English and Math, middle school students in English as a second language, and helped peers in an informal context. My experiences teaching visual art and dance classes have also helped me develop creative and engaging ways to present information. While I tutor many different subjects, I am particularly excited about working with students on writing and French. I have studied French for 11 years and lived abroad in a Francophone country, and I am a total geek when it comes to French grammar. I am a rising junior at Vanderbilt University studying chemical engineering and mathematics. At Vanderbilt, I've had the opportunity to teach at local Nashville elementary and middle schools as part of Vanderbilt Student Volunteers for Science. I am passionate about tutoring math and science, and even though these subjects are often considered "dry," the right teaching style can spark any student's interest. When it comes to standardized test preparation, I've found that knowing the intricacies of a test can improve a student's score just as much as knowing the subject material can. Different students learn in different ways but that kind of personal attention is difficult to provide in a classroom. I am currently an undergrad at Vanderbilt University, majoring in Mathematics and Political Science. I have been tutoring students since high school, mostly in science and math. I've found that STEM courses are intimidating to many students, and I hope to get rid of that fear and promote an appreciation for numbers and the sciences.
