I'm a rising junior at Brown University studying biomedical engineering. I have lots of experience in middle school through college level instruction in STEM and SAT/ACT prep. My goal is to provide a fun and productive learning environment by only teaching subjects that I am passionate about.

I am a current student at Princeton University, obtaining a major in English with minors in Environmental Studies and Musical Theater. I graduated from Sewickley Academy in 2016 as a member of the Cum Laude Society with highest honors for all semesters. I am an AP Scholar with Honors, an Academic All American, and a recipient of the Harvard Book Award. When on breaks from school, I take care of children ages 5-11 and teach them reading, writing, and mathematics. Though I enjoy teaching a wide range of subjects, I am most passionate about English. I have the most fun teaching students reading, writing, and grammar for test preparation and general school help. I believe that the ability to read and write proficiently is a foundation for a well-rounded individual and allows the student to have the best chances in any academic or employment field they may pursue. To be able to express oneself eloquently and concisely is essential for academic and personal success. This does not come without skill in logical mathematic thinking, however. I firmly believe that anyone can succeed no matter where they are in the educative process as long as they have the tools and strategies for efficient learning. The best advise any teacher gave me was "study smarter, not harder". There are strategies that take time to learn, but once mastered, studying and preparing for any academic venture become much easier. In my free time, I enjoy participating in musical theater, golfing, reading, and yoga.

I am a Yale grad, Johns Hopkins master's candidate, and certified early childhood educator. At Yale, I studied History and Child Development. I went on to teach with Teach For America, and I am currently in my 3rd year of teaching. Tutoring has been an interest of mine for many years. I started tutoring when I was in middle school, and I haven't stopped. I thoroughly enjoy working with students of all ages to help supplement their learning. I'm passionate about guiding high schoolers through the college application process. The admissions process is probably one of the most confusing, anxiety-inducing experiences you'll have in high school, but I'm full of ideas for making the entire process as successful and stress-free as possible. I've successfully guided many students through every stage of admissions -- from figuring out where to apply and then staying organized and on-track, to "packaging" themselves and producing a perfect personal statement -- and I love witnessing them achieve their admissions dreams.

I am a high school history teacher who has also worked as a teaching assistant at one of the country's top 10 colleges. I've taught ACT/SAT prep for about 4 years to students at all ends of the academic spectrum: from those working with learning disabilities/accommodations & struggling with timing to those trying to achieve perfect scores. Although I always create individualized plans, I focus on teaching every student the most effective, step-by-step way to approach each question on each section of the test. Beyond test prep, I've taught/tutored just about every academic subject through the undergraduate level. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading about history, going to church, coaching sports (track & tennis), and spending time with my family. I really enjoy getting to know each student I teach as we work toward our goals.

I am currently a neuroscience PhD student at Columbia University. I majored in English and Psychology from Brown University, with a 4.0 and honours in Psychology. Following this, I worked at a lab at UPenn for three years, slowly transitioning to software engineering and computational neuroscience.

I am a senior Psychology, Spanish, and Religion major, and I have been tutoring for over ten years. I love working with students of all ages, and I have five years of experience working with students with learning differences! I specialize in English literature, writing, learning differences, and Spanish.

I am pursuing a B.S. degree in Neuroscience at the University of Kentucky that I will successfully complete in the Fall of 2020. Through great experiences teaching English in Chiangmai, Thailand for two months and tutoring Calculus I and II through Princeton University's McGraw Tutoring program for two years, I have come across many learning styles and have developed a love for teaching. I am a graduate of The Brearley School and Juilliard Pre-College, as well as a current student at Carleton College where I am studying Anthropology and Archaeology. I have previous tutoring experience in both essay writing/editing and SAT verbal. The subjects I am most passionate about are History, English, Creative Writing, and Literature. I am currently a Political Science and Environmental Studies major at Brown University. I find it extremely satisfying to share my passion for learning with others. From 2011 through 2013, I tutored middle school students in the Oakland Public School system through the Partners Program. From 2014 to 2015, I was employed as a private tutor for students both in middle school and in high school. Over the last year I have tutored international high school students online in test preparation, as well as various academic subjects. I have more informal teaching experience as a counselor intern naturalist at the Point Reyes Nature Science Camp as well. These jobs have been extremely rewarding, as I have had the opportunity to help my students better understand new concepts and form strong study habits. I also have learned how to explain problems and concepts in multiple ways. When I'm not tutoring, I love photography, playing softball, and backpacking long distance trails.

I am a recent graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and a current first year medical student at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I began tutoring junior high and high school students in math and science as a freshman in high school, and have continued refining these skills throughout my time in college. I completed the MCAT in March 2017, and still vividly remember the study strategies that resulted in a successful score. My high school students have had great success on the SAT Subject Test in Biology, often scoring in the high 700s on their first attempt. I am currently a rising junior at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia although I am originally from Chicago, IL. I am double majoring in Psychology and English. My current GPA is a 3.9 and I have taken a wide range of courses. I was editor in chief of my school's newspaper, competed internationally for our Model UN team, and I currently college counsel low-income high-achieving students at high schools in downtown Atlanta, in addition to tutoring multiple students in ACT/SAT prep, English, Biology, and History. This includes helping them prepare for standardized tests, editing essays and applications, and generating lists of potential institutions to apply to. I received a 35 on my ACT. In the past, I was a teacher's assistant at a home and school for severely autistic children ages 9-14, and worked on overcoming communicative barriers to foster interpersonal connections. I have also tutored multiple children with learning disabilities. In my experience, getting students engaged is just about finding the strategy that works best for them. That may mean we have to try multiple approaches, or approaches that I don't prefer, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that incredible feeling with a student when they finally grasp a concept.

I am a recent college graduate with a goal of becoming a physician. I majored in Neuroscience and and have a passion for math as well. I think a good way to help students learn is to get them to stay motivated by being encouraging and showing them the fun in learning. Everything may seem hard at first, but hard work really does pay off in the end. I think the best way to learn is to be open minded and willing to learn.

And yes, even though I don't necessary use the Pythagorean Theorem in my everyday life, the Pythagorean Theorem taught me how to find patterns and appreciate triangles. I believe that while every subject may not be directly applicable to life, every subject can teach us something about ourselves and the world around us. And that is an exciting thing! I want students to realize that they may be learning more than they think!

I am a junior at Allegheny College who is majoring in Economics and triple-minoring in Mathematics, Psychology, and Dance and Movement Studies. Growing up, I was always one of the students who helped my classmates when they didn't understand certain problems.

I grew up in Canada and my first degree was from Mt. St. Vincent Women's University in Nova Scotia, Canada. I received a B.A. in political science with a double minor in Women's Studies and Psychology. From there, I moved to the United States, where I started teaching and earned my Master's degree in Education, Special Education from Cambridge College. I went on to complete an Ed.S. online with Old Dominion University in Virginia, with the hopes of doing my doctorate. I stopped my doctorate before completing my dissertation during COVID as the school I was attending closed its doors permanently, and I haven't found an alternative. I may go back someday and finish, but for now, I'm happy with things as they are. I love teaching reading the most, because I am such an avid reader and feel that it is a wonderful skill to have. I have worked in other subjects such as Writing and Social Studies, but I am most passionate about teaching reading and helping students to overcome their struggles with that subject. I have been teaching for all of my adult life and started when I was 17 years old as a tutor for older adults who struggled with literacy skills. This ignited my passion for teaching. My love of teaching has stayed with me for my entire life and though it has been tested over time, I have never thought of doing any other job. My philosophy includes believing that all people are deserving of an education that can help enrich their lives and advance their skills. My life involves enjoying music, writing, reading, animals and nature. Those are the things that have helped me cope with things beyond my control, as well as have provided much-needed alternatives during this new post-pandemic world. I did suffer mild disabilities in speech and Math as a student when I was a kid, so I am particularly sensitive to the needs of students with disabilities.
