I am no stranger to people getting tutors in order to succeed. An ambition to accomplish any academic goal was encouraged all my life; thus, I am accustomed to studying hard on top of participating in countless extra-curricular activities. I graduated highs school and received a diploma from the extremely rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) program, and began attending an Ivy League college, the University of Pennsylvania, in 2016. I'm a educator and visual artist with many years of experience teaching and tutoring high school and college students. I have a BA in Political Science from New College of Florida and a MFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design. While I'm a photographer by trade, I also have a passion for and expertise in Math and the Natural Sciences -- as well as French and Spanish, having studied and worked in both Paris and Central America. I have earned Bachelor of Science degrees in both Biological Sciences and Nursing. As a learner, I have always had an inclination toward math and science. I was introduced to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme when I was in middle school and I took higher level courses from then until the culmination of high school, at which point I received the IB diploma. I have a very strong academic background, despite the fact that I was always a learner who needed plenty of time and effort for things to sink in. Whenever I had trouble with concepts, particularly in the often challenging subjects of math and science, I wouldn't be open about it with my teachers, usually because of the simple fact that I didn't feel comfortable seeking help. For this reason, what's most important to me as a tutor is that any student I'm helping is comfortable enough to have open communication with me about their concerns and sources of confusion. I also find it very useful (and even necessary at times) to break things down to the very basics, in order to build understanding on a secure foundation. I am a recent Cornell University graduate (Dec '23) majoring in Biological Sciences with a focus on Genetics, Genomics, and Development. My passion lies in healthcare, as I am currently preparing to attend medical school this upcoming fall. However, I have always had an interest in teaching. I started as a general chemistry TA, supporting students during problem solving sessions. I'm a coterminal master's student at Stanford University in California majoring in Computer Science (Biocomputation). Throughout high school and college, I've taken many courses in computer science, the life sciences (biology and chemistry), and math; and I've been through a lot of standardized tests. For computer science in particular, I have a lot of experience writing software in Python and C++ for AI and systems classes, and I'll be interning as a software engineer at Facebook this summer.
