I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.

I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. I am currently attending New York University where I am pursuing a degree in Finance and Statistics. I have previous experience tutoring individuals in math, a subject I have always excelled at academically. I am a graduate of Columbia University with a degree in Drama and Theatre Arts. I taught math and essay writing to my peers in high school and college, and have tutored a close friend in her mathematics courses since junior year of high school. I'm a graduate of Columbia University with a B.A. in History. I'm passionate about history and English, but I'm a competent math tutor as well. I have received outstanding scores on my SAT and AP tests, and am confident in my ability to pass on these skills to the next generation.

I am a rising senior at Harvard College pursuing an AB in Government. Academically, I have diverse interests, including history, language, math, physics, philosophy, music, and politics. In high school, I tutored elementary, middle, and high school students in music, math, ACT and SAT prep, and Spanish. At Harvard, I spent a year as a course assistant in the math department, helping to teach introductory undergraduate calculus. Currently, I volunteer with the Leadership Institute at Harvard College (LIHC) as part of its Social Outreach Committee. This work involves teaching a weekly course called "Fundamentals of Leadership" to a class of middle school students. Overall, I have found my experiences tutoring math to be the most rewarding.

I am planning now to shift to a more educational career. Last year I worked at a small tutoring center, and I decided to branch out even more and work here.

I am a Penn State Graduate (B.S.) and am currently a student at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Jefferson University. My goal as a tutor is to help make the subjects I love approachable to other students, and to teach the study techniques that have served me well in school. I have tutored people in Biology, Physiology, general and Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Writing proficiency, and Physics. I also teach SHSAT prep to 7th graders. I am qualified to teach strategy and content for the SAT and MCAT, as well as high school Science, Writing, and Math classes. My greatest strength as a tutor is my ability to simplify abstract concepts using analogies and real-life comparisons so that anybody can learn them. Showing students how their studies relate to the rest of the world is the best way to create long term interest and understanding. My main focus is typically "teaching toward the test," as making sure my students get the grades they need is always the priority.

I am currently a senior at Harvard College where I study chemistry, and I'll be attending Columbia Medical School next year. I have years of experience tutoring college students in math (mostly calculus) and chemistry including both general and organic chemistry. In addition, I am very familiar with all sections of the SAT and ACT having prepared several high school students for these tests. I believe that every student is capable of boosting his or her baseline score on these tests, so long as he or she works hard to get to know the format of the tests and the most popular types of questions. I tutor because I love seeing students develop a genuine passion for the subjects they once disliked (such as math and science), once they understand the power of these subjects and their applications to the real world.

I am an aspiring applied mathematician, with particular interest in image processing and climate science. I graduated in May 2017 from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor's in physics and mathematics, and am beginning a PhD program in September 2017 at the University of Chicago in Computational and Applied Mathematics. I've tutored introductory physics students for three years and enjoyed it thoroughly, as a chance to help other students while revisiting fundamental concepts to enhance my own knowledge. I'm eager to continue reaching out and helping students of math and physics to succeed and, furthermore, to appreciate the beauty and power of these subjects.

I am a student at Columbia University in the City of New York studying biochemistry on the pre-medicine track. I also enjoy meeting new people, exploring world cultures, and developing my sense of self.

I am currently a prospective Computer Science Major at New York University. I am aiming for a 5 year bachelor's/master's degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. With tutoring, I am very patient, and it is my goal to make sure my tutees absolutely understand the material they need help with. In general, I explain things in a lot of detail, which could be unnecessary at times, but I think that is better than not explaining enough. Because I'm majoring in Computer Science, that is one of my strongest subjects to tutor in, but I am able to tutor Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, and SAT Math. I am a graduate of Cornell University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Currently, I am working as an Assistant Director at a preparatory school managing and teaching students simultaneously. In the recent years at the school, I have been focusing more on the Reading portions of standardized tests but have at times assisted students in the math and science portions as well usually one-on-one. I strongly believe that every students has their own style of learning and must learn at their own pace. I am a college student at Fordham University with a lot of experience working with younger students. I currently major in math and love to tutor students in mathematics. In addition, I'm experienced with standardized test prep, and I could help with tutoring for tests such as the SHSAT or SAT.

I am currently an undergraduate at Brown University concentrating in both Materials Science and Economics. In terms of tutoring experience, prior to Brown I have privately tutored other high school students for about a year mainly in the subjects of math and science. Other unorthodox instructing experience includes teaching young kids how to swim, and other college students, the Japanese martial art of Kendo. I am also a Meiklejohn Peer Advisor at Brown which pretty much is a fancy way of saying "guide for freshman year of college." Basically I help out first years at Brown with the transition to college and assist them with whatever concerns or problems they might have during the school year. I tutor a variety a subjects but mainly focus on all levels of math up to calculus as well as all sections of the SAT I. A reason I like tutoring math is that for the most part, once you learn any material (and I mean really learn it), you are more often than not going to remember it for the rest of your life. I sometimes surprise myself with the things I still remember from my math classes in the past. I think the main reason though is that once you have a strong understanding of the basics, taking on harder concepts becomes less of a challenge. The way I teach is pretty straightforward - the only thing I ask of students is to ask questions. Ask as soon as something comes into your mind because chances are if you are not sure of something now, you are definitely not going to be sure of it later. I, and I am certain a lot of other people, have a tendency of just nodding "yes" when being explained something, and then realize later "I didn't understand a thing that person said." The only way to get around this, and I know it can be uncomfortable sometimes, is to ask questions. Some things you can find me doing in my free time are reading, practicing kendo, and catching up on the latest episode of Suits.

I am a graduate of Princeton University. I was fortunate enough to have been selected by Joyce Carol Oates as one of her two advisees. Under her guidance, I wrote my first novel. Since graduation, I have been pursuing a career as a freelance theater director and writer. I'm currently a freshman at New York University in the Stern School of Business majoring in Business and Political Economy. As a student who has experienced 12 years of both good and bad teachers, I understand the relevant skills needed to teach a variety of students. I've spent time my entire high school career helping my peers with general school subjects and two years teaching swimming to younger children. While abroad, I've even taught English to Chinese students. For the fast and slow learners, I have experience with breaking lessons down so that students not only learn and remember the material, but also improve their scores.

I am currently conducting breast cancer research as the lab manager in an immunology lab at Columbia University Medical Center. I am extremely comfortable with physics and mathematics (from my studies) as well as biology, chemistry, and biochemistry (through my research experience) and sincerely enjoy tutoring students in those areas. I am currently working in a biochemistry lab at NYU Medical Center and applying to medical school, with hopes of training to be a pediatric surgeon in the future. I have worked as a teaching assistant for a Columbia biology lab course, taught ESL to immigrants from China, and tutored extensively in math, science, and test prep.
