I am an undergraduate student at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend. I'm studying Mechanical Engineering and computer science. I've always loved math and sports, and I've developed the skills to help others succeed in learning both. Whether teaching my classmates, friends, or brothers in academics or soccer my goal is to make sure that learning is both fun and rewarding.

I tutor because I enjoy it. I also tutor because I am good at it.I enjoy being able to empower students to feel the same euphoria that I felt when I overcame my own struggles in Math. Yes, I struggled with Math. I was a C minus student in Math on a good day. All the way up to High School, I worked hard, and tried, and failed to excel in Math. I excelled in all my other subjects, but Math was a different beast. In High School, I resolved to give Math my all, once and for all. I signed up for some intensive tutoring--3 hours a day, 6 days a week, for one month. On a grading scale (UK), where a score of 75% or higher is an A (and I was hoping to reach the 75% mark), I scored a 100% on my final exam. I was shocked, amazed, and ecstatic. I felt empowered to pursue any field of higher study. The tutoring that I received helped fill in the gaps and solidify my understanding of key fundamental concepts in Math. Once my foundation was solid, I was able to make progress on my own.I went on to pursue my BSc in Computer Engineering and my MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I have been tutoring for over a decade now, and am a Master Level Certified Tutor through the College Reading and Learning Association.Having struggled, and eventually overcome those struggles in Math, I am committed to helping students succeed. I believe in the ability of each and every student to gain comfort with this often maligned subject. I adapt my teaching style to accommodate the unique learning style of each individual student. I have worked with students of a variety of ages and skill levels. Throughout my high school career, I tutored numerous students ranging from freshmen who are taking core classes to seniors who are taking AP classes. Due to this, it allowed me to communicate and learn various methods of teaching that can be understandable to all ages. While I do tutor a diverse set of subjects, I primarily focus on STEM-based ones. I am also passionate about improving standardized test scores like the ACT. Playing football at Furman University taught me numerous life lessons; one of my favorite is how important school is in the bigger picture. While pursuing my engineering degree, teammates would ask me for help with their math and science courses. This is where my tutoring experience began. Tutoring became important to me, because it helped my friends and gave me a better understanding of the material.I still practice most of the skills I learned from tutoring everyday at my job. I currently run a laboratory for the aerospace industry, and it requires great organization and management skills. I am also constantly teaching new-hires proper testing techniques. Throughout my experience I've noticed a common factor in successful teachers and coaches. Motivation is a key component in any learning process; if you can capture the student's attention, the rest will come with time and practice.
