I am a graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy with a focus in Health Care. My minors were Education and Child Advocacy. On the side of my regular college credits I took extra classes and spent 40 hours per semester in different classrooms in the area. My last college semester I spent seven weeks full time in a third grade classroom teaching and my final seven weeks in a special education classroom in order to receive my certifications. I am now certified to teach Elementary Grades K-6 as well as Special Education Grades K-6. Along with teaching in New York State, I spent four months in Aix-En-Provence, France and worked with children. I have worked with all ages, all types of students with learning disabilities, and all types of energy levels in the classroom. I have a sincere passion for teaching and have realized that many children fall behind and need that individualized attention in order to succeed. I went through tutors when I was in elementary school and it helped amazingly. I hope to do the same for more children out there. In my spare time I exercise and spend time with my family.

In college, I was an Opportunity Program tutor for a high school student preparing for the AP Chemistry Exam. Regarding college students, I served as a note taker for the General Biology course, a tutor for the Cell Biology course, and a tutor for a Biochemistry course for graduate students. After college, I attended the University of Pittsburgh for graduate school and earned my PhD in Cellular and Molecular Pathology. During graduate school I was a mentor for a junior high school student in a summer program and helped her design and execute a research project examining a genetic knockout mouse model. I also served as a teaching assistant for first year graduate students in a Biomedical Sciences Intro course and first year medical students in a Histology course. Currently, I am a postdoctoral research fellow at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School where I am continuing to perform biomedical research. When I am not in the lab, you can find me exploring historical sites and hiking outdoors.

After graduation, I worked at Gale, Inc., a major publisher of reference books, writing and editing for their 'Twentieth-Century Literary Criticism' series. I've taught college courses in Shakespeare, modern American authors, and freshman composition. I'm also a graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, with a Master of Arts in Theological Studies. I love to teach, and I've taught informally for several years in a number of different subjects, but I am most passionate about English literature and composition. I am especially adept at matching my teaching style to my students' learning styles, and can adjust to various ages and skill levels. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, live theater, playing chess, playing guitar, and spending time with my wife and children.

I have routinely made the Dean's list and my GPA is currently 3.7. I'm currently completing my last course as a long-distance independent study. I also scored a 2040 on my SAT's.Last year, I worked as a tutor in a classroom of high-school students at West Philadelphia. The focus of our sessions was on creating dramatic monologues to be performed at an Arts Festival.I have also worked as a teacher's assistant at Northern Virginia Community College. In this capacity, I worked with 25 students of disparate ages and backgrounds including a number of students for whom English was a second language. I worked with students both in small groups and in a one-on-one capacity to improve their writing and critical reading.
