Certified Tutor

My passion for emergency medical services has grown from years of both frontline experience and teaching roles. Since becoming a certified Emergency Medical Technician in 2017, I have had the privilege of serving diverse communities in New York through roles in prehospital care, urgent care, and hospital-based clinical settings. These experiences have given me a strong foundation in patient assessment, emergency intervention, and critical decision-making under pressure.

Beyond clinical practice, I have dedicated significant time to teaching and mentoring new EMTs. As a Skills Instructor and Clinical Coordinator with Port Jefferson EMS, I created and implemented lesson plans, conducted simulation labs, evaluated student performance, and provided remediation strategies to help trainees gain confidence and competence. In my role as Lieutenant of Education and Training, I organized continuing medical education, coordinated department-wide training scenarios, and developed protocols for mass casualty drills. Through these experiences, I learned the importance of tailoring instruction to different learning styles, fostering teamwork, and building students' confidence in high-stakes situations.

My background as a Clinical Care Technician at Tufts Medical Center and a Medical Assistant in urgent care and primary care settings has also allowed me to teach and model practical skills such as phlebotomy, specimen collection, EKG administration, medication management, and patient communication. In addition, my service as a panelist and exam writer for the National Registry of EMTs has strengthened my ability to evaluate knowledge objectively, ensure content accuracy, and maintain national standards of practice.

I believe effective EMT tutoring requires more than technical expertise it requires patience, adaptability, and the ability to connect classroom skills to real-world practice. My experience has prepared me to support students at every level, whether they need help mastering foundational knowledge, refining advanced skills, or preparing for certification exams. I take pride in guiding students toward not only passing their exams but also developing the confidence and clinical judgment to provide safe, compassionate care in the field.
