Certified Tutor
As a dedicated educator with a PhD in English from the University of Louisiana Lafayette, I have over 20 years of experience teaching and tutoring a variety of English subjects, including composition with accompanying MLA or Chicago styles of documentation. I impart to my students that reading and comprehending American and British Literature goes beyond just understanding the words on a page. Literature is the gateway to finding oneself, and for understanding others in the world. My teaching philosophy revolves around building strong rapport with my students, fostering a supportive environment where they feel empowered to explore their unique voices in writing and reading. I am particularly dedicated to helping students master the intricacies of grammar, syntax, and essay composition, drawing on my own experiences as a published author of two novels and a biography. I find immense joy in tailoring my approach to meet individual student needs, guiding them toward academic success and helping them gain a genuine enthusiasm for literature. Whether in a classroom or one-on-one, I am committed to nurturing a love for writing that will follow them for a lifetime.
