I love tutoring because I see my students gaining self-confidence along with knowledge as they master concepts that were initially difficult for them! I believe that any person is capable of learning anything if 1) they really want to and are willing to work hard for it, and 2) they have a caring teacher who is able to find creative tools to make the material accessible in the ways they process information. I have a PhD in Immunology, a degree in Chemical Engineering, and decades of experience as a teacher and tutor, even writing a workbook for college students of Organic Chemistry. I tutor biology, chemistry, and math. I enjoy tutoring biology because there are many fascinating stories to be told and real-world connections to make with my students, and chemistry because it's great fun to invent ways to communicate important concepts that are hard to see (I taught my son about molecular bonding using buttons from my sewing closet!).
