Certified Tutor

I recently graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, NJ, a highly competitive, all-boys, Catholic, college-prep high school. I will attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall and plan to get a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering. Throughout my life, I have always had an affinity for tutoring and helping classmates. I was as young as 8, going around my classroom giving out answers and helping struggling classmates. This continued throughout elementary and middle school, with my teachers often allowing me to go around the class helping and acting as a TA. When I got to high school, it turned into late-night calls with friends and them asking me to explain a certain topic or help them with homework. Oftentimes, it would be friends from other schools, asking for help in a class that I was not in, which led to me learning the topic on the spot well enough to teach it back to them and have them understand it. I feel that it was during these calls that I realized I wanted to be a tutor. My friends did not pay me to stay up until midnight on a school night, helping them with physics or chemistry, but I did it because I loved it. I loved being able to help them, and my ability to learn a topic on the fly and teach it back to my friends and have them understand it gave me confidence that I would make a great tutor. Besides tutoring friends and classmates, I also tutored other CBA (Christian Brothers Academy) students through NHS (National Honor Society) tutoring and got experience tutoring people that I was not familiar with, building connections, and understanding the way people learn to tutor them better. My favorite and best topic is math, of any kind, but I also excel in physics, chemistry, and most other sciences, including computer science. Outside of my studies, I play rugby, football, basketball, soccer, and tennis, among other sports, lift in the gym, play video games, and enjoy spending time with my somewhat newly acquired kittens.
