As a dedicated educator with a Master's degree in Specific Learning Disabilities from North Carolina State University and National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification, I have over 38 years of experience in intervention, special education, general education and tutoring settings, focusing primarily on reading and math intervention for elementary students. My approach emphasizes building strong relationships with my students to understand their unique learning needs, allowing me to tailor multisensory lesson plans that foster growth and confidence. I am a Certified Wilson Practitioner and utilize the Wilson Reading System alongside other evidence-based strategies to ensure effective learning outcomes. My passion for teaching is rooted in witnessing the transformative power of literacy, and I strive to create a supportive environment where every student can thrive. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy engaging in activities of life long learning, reading, the beach and cheering on the Tar Heels.
