I'm a passionate artist and dedicated art educator with over 7 years of teaching experience. I hold a Master of Fine Arts from American University and a Bachelor of Arts with a minor in Art History from McDaniel College. I'm also a certified K12 visual arts teacher in the state of South Carolina. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of teaching middle school art, as well as Art 1, Art 2, Honors Art, and Independent Study courses in drawing and painting at the high school level. I've also served as a teaching assistant in painting, drawing, and printmaking at the college level, supporting art majors as they refined their techniques and creative voices.
I offer tutoring for students of all agesK through 12but I specialize in working with grades 612 and college-level students, including those pursuing fine arts degrees. Whether you're just beginning your artistic journey or looking to deepen your portfolio and sharpen your skills, I'm here to guide you with expert instruction and genuine encouragement.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in respect, curiosity, and mastery of the fundamentals. I believe that every student has something unique to say through artand that expression becomes even more powerful when supported by strong technical skills. In our sessions, we'll explore the building blocks of visual language tailored specifically to your interests. We'll also learn how to analyze and discuss art with insight and confidence. I tailor my approach to meet each learner where they are, nurturing both their personal voice and their foundational knowledge.
Outside the classroom, I work from my personal studio where I continue to grow as a practicing artist. I also treasure quiet time with my family and my wonderful dogboth of whom remind me to stay grounded and grateful.
Art has the power to transform how we see the world and ourselves. I can't wait to share that journey with you.
