I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Abigail: Albany County tutor

Certified Tutor

I graduated from Dordt University in May 2025 with my BA in Fine Arts: Studio Arts and Art History. I am so eager to share my love of the arts and art history, so that you to may be able to feel the excitement in one of humanities oldest forms of self-expression and communication. I love listening to other talk about the arts they are excited about, and I study methods in ways to be able to help them in their artistic careers. As it is so important to fuel artistic endeavors with true joy of what you are doing. To do so I use a method of teach and be taught, where I have open discussion with my students so they can feel more confident in their subject. I have watched that this method of teaching instills a deep desire to continue learning and practicing outside of a scholastic environment.

What subjects do I tutor? I will help lead you in drawing techniques, sculptural methods, and art history. I am in love with all these methods, but I do have a particular fondness for art history from all over the world. Along with the study methods that will at the very least broaden your understanding of the world, other cultures, religions, and historic relevance.

Hobbies

During my free time I like to; play video games, read, draw, sculpt, knit, sew, and world build. I also love to play tabletop roleplaying games, such of Dungeons and Dragons or Daggerheart, where I either lead players in an engaging story, or play as my own character. During the summer I enjoy going to craft fairs, farmers markets, and Renaissance fairs. Since I love being around people who share the same excitement as I do in being creative and forging community.
