Amanda: Norwalk tutor
Certified Tutor
Hi! I'm Amanda Ong, and I hold a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Washington's Paul G. Allen School. I specialize in computer science, math, and science tutoring for high school and early college students, and I'm passionate about helping learners build strong foundations and gain confidence in technical subjects.
During my time at UW, I served as a teaching assistant for the introductory computer science course (CSE 160) over six quarters. I've worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds and skill levels, and I always aim to make complex ideas approachable and engaging. Whether it's breaking down a tough programming concept or helping with high school algebra, I focus on meeting students where they are and helping them grow.
Outside the classroom, I've led STEM outreach efforts through the Society of Women Engineers and supported high school students through career-readiness programs with local nonprofits. I believe learning works best in a supportive, encouraging environmentand that's exactly what I aim to provide in every session.
If you're looking for a tutor who combines strong academic training with real teaching experience and a student-centered approach, I'd love to help!
