Hello! My name is Kristy Hinkle and I have been a registered nurse for 30 years! I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Graceland College.

Throughout my career I have had many opportunities to practice my nursing and gain more knowledge and skill sets. I have worked on both adult and pediatric medical/surgical units, pediatric same day surgery and recovery room, mother/baby, allergy & asthma, and on an adult pre/post op unit.

I spent 8 years working for the local school district traveling to my designated schools to teach Nurse Lessons to students grades 4th through High School. Lessons were based on grade and any questions that were "above" that grade level were always referred back to the parent.

I taught at one of the local charter high schools in their Medical Academy for 5 years. I taught Health Science 1, Health Science 2, and Allied Health 3. Allied Health 3 was my senior students; we spent the year learning 21 nursing skills along with diseases and disorders that affect the elderly population and how best to care for them with these challenges. At the end of the school year, the students were ready to sit for the Certified Nursing Assistant certification exam and upon graduating high school, they had a career they could immediately fall into while they either chose to continue that path or use it as a stepping stone to further their career.

Currently I work at a private college as a Simulation Lab Specialist. In this position I work very closely with faculty in helping develop labs that correlate to what the students are learning in class at that time. I also assist the lab instructors during class and help answer questions or guide students with their skills. In addition, I also help develop and carry out simulation scenarios with our high fidelity simulators for the students.
