Alyson Leah: Cary tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a Brown University graduate with a background in Anthropology and a strong passion for education. I've taught high school students at Summer@Brown and led workshops on culture, identity, and the arts. My long-term goal is to become a lifelong educator, and tutoring allows me to keep growing those skills.
I specialize in literacy for all ages, beginner Spanish, and fundamental math skills. My approach is student-centered and goal-driven: I set clear SMART goals, tailor lessons to students' interests, and use the "I Do, We Do, You Do" method to build confidence and independence.
With experience in Spanish, French, and American Sign Language, I teach with cultural awareness and empathy. I believe learning should be accessible, engaging, and empowering for students of all ages and backgrounds.
Let's lay the groundwork for confidence, curiosity, and lifelong growth!

Outside of tutoring, I’m passionate about creative expression and lifelong learning. I enjoy dance, music (both listening and playing instruments), performance art, visual art, and visiting museums. Storytelling also captivates me, whether through writing, documentaries, or interactive media like video games. In addition to the arts, I have a love for nature and wildlife, finding constant inspiration in the world around me. The natural environment provides fresh perspectives and ideas for creativity. I’m also drawn to the tech world, particularly AI, machine learning, and computer programming. I’m fascinated by how these fields intersect with creativity, and I love discovering new ways to integrate technology into problem-solving and expression.
