Certified Tutor
I have worked in education for the past five years in a variety of roles, including afterschool program tutor, instructional aide, private tutor, and substitute teacher. These experiences have allowed me to work with students ranging from preschool through high school, across a wide range of subjects. While I have supported all core subjects in my role as a substitute teacher, my passion and expertise lie in elementary and middle school reading, ELA, and math.
I hold a bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies (Elementary Education) from California State University, Fresno, and am currently pursuing my master's degree in teaching and my teaching license through Eastern Oregon University. My deep love of learning is what drives me to help students grow into the best versions of themselves. I strive to share that same enthusiasm for learning with each student I work with.
My favorite subject to tutor is math, largely because it did not come naturally to me as a student. I understand what it feels like to struggle with a subject, and I've developed strategies and alternative approaches to problem-solving that help me connect with students who may be experiencing similar challenges. This experience allows me to break down concepts in a way that makes sense to each learner and helps them build confidence in their abilities.
I believe that there is no single "right" way to learn. Every student brings a unique set of strengths, needs, and learning styles to the table. My approach is student-centered, flexible, and encouraging. I aim to meet students where they are and help them grow at a pace that is right for them while celebrating their progress along the way.
Outside of tutoring, I'm an avid reader and outdoor enthusiast. I enjoy spending time with my family and pets and taking advantage of the many year-round outdoor activities in my area, including paddleboarding, skiing, hiking, and ice skating.
