Hi! My name is Jess, and I recently earned my Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My doctoral research centered on understanding how bacteria behave and interact under fluid flow conditions, which combined elements of microbiology and biophysics to explore microbial dynamics in complex settings.
During my time in graduate school, I served as a teaching assistant for the undergraduate Cell, Development, and Tissue Biology course. This experience deepened my passion for education and allowed me to develop a clear and engaging teaching style that supports students in mastering challenging biological concepts.
Among all the subjects I've studied and taught, my favorites to tutor are cell biology and microbiology. I love helping students explore the intricate inner workings of cells and the fascinating diversity and adaptability of microbial life.
