According to Louisa Moats, learning to read is Rocket Science! I love helping students get past their reading challenges and see the light in their eyes when they recognize their first letter sound, or word, or sentence or paragraph!
My elementary teaching career has spanned over 20 years. The last 10, I have spent teaching small groups and individuals as a Reading Specialist.
I have been lucky to study education in many areas of the country. I earned a BA in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Education from San Diego State University. My first MAEd is from University of Phoenix. My Reading and Language Specialist MAEd is from University of Massachusetts Lowell.

We have 3 adorable rescue dogs - Tuukka, Mookie and Timber. When I am not out playing and hiking with them, I love watching and playing sports. My favorite teams are the Boston Bruins, New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox and the Portland Timbers. When I have time, I love cuddling up with a good book. When I don't, I listen to Audible. This year, I plan on learning how to grow lots of fruits and veggies in my new garden.
