Certified Tutor
Teaching has always been my favorite part of any job I have had. Working with students to get that next step figure out is so enjoyable for me. I have a master's degree in music theory, bachelor's in English and piano, and have worked professionally as a programmer for years.
I've had the good fortune to teach in many venues: adjunct professor, one on one music lessons, substitute teaching pre-K through 12th grade, and tutoring and mentoring as a programmer.
All of these situations were rewarding in their own unique ways. But the through line for me was the opportunity to help someone achieve something they hadn't before. I think it's crucial to have high stands (appropriate for the person and situation), and do this in a positive manner. Work with what's going right as a starting point, help where things need help, my bottom line is meet the student where they are and constructively move forward. Being positive, student focused and attentive are the foundation for a great outcome.
