Certified Tutor
I am a sophomore double majoring in English and Modern Languages at the Saint Louis University Campus in Madrid, Spain. My passions are literature, creative writing and languages and I'm interested in pursuing postgraduate studies in Comparative Literature and working as a writer. My hobbies are traveling, painting, spending time in nature, and, of course, reading and writing.
My experience tutoring has included reading comprehension and analysis, writing for research papers, essays and creative projects, and training tutors as a board member of the National English Honors Society. Additionally, as a teacher's assistant for AP U.S. History, I tutored students in the formulaic writing required for DBQs, SAQs and LEQs. I'm an accomplished creative writer, I've received several awards and spend a majority of my free time working on various writing projects.
In literature, we frequently discuss the author's "voice". I believe that writing is an excellent way for a student to find their own voice, and as a tutor, I seek not only to improve a student's technical skills but show them that writing is a mode of expression and that even academic writing, therefore, can be personal, creative, and gratifying. Fostering a personal connection with material is vital for practical application and remembering information in the long term. My intention is to show students that writing can help you learn about yourself which makes learning a meaningful and empowering process.
