Sally: McKinney tutor
Certified Tutor
Education is transformative, and I am passionate about helping students unlock their potential through personalized learning experiences. With over 15 years of experience teaching middle and high school students, as well as working with college-level learners, I have supported diverse student populations with various academic, linguistic, and socio-emotional needs. My academic background includes a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a Master's in Educational Psychology from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor's in English Education from the University of South Florida.
Throughout my career, I have designed and taught curricula to meet the unique learning needs of students. I've taught courses in English, creative writing, study skills, journalism and leadership development, ensuring that students develop both core academic skills and life-long learning strategies. I take a student-centered approach to education; I believe in meeting students where they are, diagnosing learning needs, scaffolding instruction, and empowering them to achieve academic success.
While I tutor across several subjects, English (and especially writing) is my favorite because it offers students the opportunity to explore ideas, express themselves, and develop analytical skills. I enjoy guiding students through this process, helping them build confidence and a sense of ownership in their learning.
Outside of teaching and tutoring, I am an active blogger, website developer, and small business owner, where I create, curate, and edit educational resources and share my expertise with other educators. I also participate in community service and mentorship. These experiences have strengthened my belief in the importance of holistic education, where students are supported both inside and outside the classroom.

I have a wide range of interests that keep me inspired and balanced. I’m an avid reader, currently enjoying histories that expand my understanding of the world. I do my own home improvement and home repairs, and I blog about my experiences. I also love traveling and have been focusing on exploring U.S. cities—recently visiting Santa Fe, New Orleans, Baltimore, New York City, Madison, and Monterey. At home, I cherish time with my two cats and enjoy spending quality moments with my family, including my two college-aged children.
