Education, to me, is about more than just teaching content, it's about building relationships, fostering curiosity, and preparing students for real-world success. With a bachelor's degree in Marketing Education from UW Stout and a master's in Organizational Leadership from Marion University, I have dedicated the past 20 years to working with high school students, helping them develop the skills and confidence to pursue their goals.
I take great pride in building strong, meaningful, and genuine connections with students, guiding them through professional development and career exploration. My greatest honor as an educator is being the person I needed when I was their age - someone who listens, understands, and helps students gain confidence and discover their potential.
In my classroom, I strive to create an engaging environment where students actively participate in their learning, and without warning, it's already time for the bell! I believe students excel when they understand the "why" behind what they're doing, so I take a facilitator approach, helping them connect concepts to their personal goals and real-world applications. As AI has evolved, so has my curiosity for consistent knowledge of this resource that allows me to deliver content more efficiently while also teaching students how to use AI responsibly and with integrity. I spend a considerable amount of time learning and further developing my skills as an educator. I believe every high school student should engage in job shadowing, skills assessments, and hands-on experiences to explore their strengths and interests before graduation, so my approach is individualized and with purpose.
My experience in teaching has afforded me the opportunity to tutor in any CTE related business, marketing, finance, and law courses. I also enjoy tutoring in reading, writing, financial math, personal finance, and college and career readiness.
My mission as an educator is simple: to help students discover their strengths, navigate their paths, and leave high school prepared for success.
