I am an educator because my own education changed my life. When I was in school, my curriculum exposed me to some of the greatest stories, ideas, and works of art that have ever been part of human history. I remember feeling like life was so much richer and more joyful: that I could do and be so much more than I had ever dreamed now that those ideas were a part of my life. Education is the greatest gift I have ever been given, and I want to pass that gift on.
I graduated from the Catholic University of America (CUA) with a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Musicology. Currently, I am applying to Master's Programmes in the UK with the intention of studying 19th century literature. When I graduated from CUA, I moved to Alaska, eventually becoming an educator in the Alaska public school system. I have spent my career working as a substitute teacher, after-school club leader, and a paraprofessional for the Special Education team. It was in these positions, especially when I worked as a paraprofessional, that I developed my own teaching style. I worked with students one-on-one or in small groups, and my sessions were characterized by fun, flexibility, and creativity. I make a space for students where they feel valued as people and get excited about what learning can add to their own stories. I keep my teaching materials simple but interactive, so that the student can focus directly on the concepts. I am very ready to switch up a learning plan if the student isn't clicking with my original teaching method.
I am most passionate about teaching writing (creative and academic), literature, music, and Latin. These were the topics that meant the most to me during school and what that I have pursued in higher education. I also tutor English, Philosophy, History, and Elementary Math and Science.
In my spare time I love to write, sing, experience new styles of music, travel, and participate in Alaskan cultural activities.

Undergraduate Degree: Catholic University of America - Bachelor in Arts, Music History, Literature, and Theory
Above all, I love to sing and to write. I love writing novels, short stories, and songs. Currently, I am trying to publish my first novel. I also am a journalist, publishing pieces about art and entertainment. I trained as an opera singer for years, and now I perform and write songs that blend operatic styles with rock and roll. I also love to read, cycle, hang out with friends, dance, fly kites, watch movies, and travel. This year I have been traveling all around Scotland. I also went to Iceland, Spain, and Hawaii. In the near future, I’m hoping to go to Germany, Ireland, Scandinavia, The Czech Republic, Greece, Morocco, and the Balkan Peninsula. When I am at home in Alaska, I love to participate in Alaskan cultural activities such as snow machining, fishing, berry picking, storytelling, camping, and skiing.
