I have a masters degree in chemistry and 5 years of experience teaching chemistry at the college level - most of courses I taught for were freshman/sophomore courses, where most students were either new to chemistry or hadn't been exposed to the material for a few years. My teaching styles involves a lot of real life metaphors for explaining chemical concepts, detailed & to-the-point instruction/strategy on how to best solve problems you'll commonly find on an exam, and a focus on how the various concepts you learn about relate to each other. I've found this approach works to equip students with a working understanding of chemistry that they can use to solve problems they've never seen before, as well as strategies for test taking that will help them ace their exam.

Despite having my masters, I got a C in my freshman chemistry class and I failed organic chemistry entirely the first time I took the class. I know what it's like to struggle in school, I have been there. There is no shame in not knowing or understanding something. You could be on your third try taking freshman chemistry and not even know what an electron is, and I will never judge you. I will always treat you like you are a student with great potential - because you are.
