About Me
Hello! My name is Lami Kim, and I'm a native Korean speaker born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. I lived in Korea for 30 years and have now lived in the United States for 11 years. I speak fluent English, which allows me to explain Korean clearly and confidently to English speakers.
I was born in 1984 and completed my full education in Seoulkindergarten, elementary school (6 years), middle school (3 years), high school (3 years), and university (4 years). After university, I studied English at a language institute for 2 years, then worked for an international jewelry company, where I used English daily. These experiences strengthened my communication skills and deepened my understanding of cross-cultural learning.
How I Teach
I teach Korean to both adults and children, using materials and methods that fit each student's age, level, and learning style.
For Adults:
I follow the Korean textbook series from kcenter.korean.go.kr: 1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B (10 chapters each).
We begin with Hangul (the Korean alphabet) in 1A, and build step by step.
I cover all core skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
I also include modern slang and real-life expressions from Naver Webtoons and YouTube to help you speak naturally and understand Korean culture.
For Children (under 10):
I use a special beginner textbook made for young learners from the same site.
My lessons are fun, visual, and interactivewith songs, stories, and age-appropriate videos.
I teach reading, writing, speaking, and listening in a playful and encouraging way.
My Goal as a Teacher
My goal is to help you enjoy learning Korean, understand the language in context, and feel confident using it in real life. Whether you're learning for travel, study, K-dramas, work, or family, I will guide you with care, patience, and a lesson plan just for you.
Let's make Korean fun and meaningful together!

About Me – Outside the Classroom Outside of teaching, my life is filled with hobbies that bring me joy, creativity, and balance. I’m an avid pickleball player and enjoy spending time outdoors, especially hiking Arizona’s beautiful trails when the weather is nice. I recently adopted a dog from a local shelter, and caring for him has brought so much happiness to my daily routine. We enjoy regular walks and training sessions together. I also love art and home projects—I'm currently painting my entire house, which has been a fun and expressive way to explore creativity. I have a strong interest in fashion styling, where I enjoy expressing both my personal and cultural identity. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies and shows, especially K-dramas, reading Korean webtoons, and listening to K-pop music. These hobbies keep me connected to Korean culture and help me bring fresh, modern content into my lessons.
