Detailed understanding mechanical behaviour of materials under different enviroments and how it affects any structure is always a concern. for example the extreme cold temperature in Atlantic ocean influenced the collapse of steel rivet structure in Titanic, at the same time the failure of Columbia space shuttle as well having metallurgical reasons behind the failure. Hence learning the material behaviour, alloying to improve its properties, assessing its mechanical properties, based on that choosing for required applications are always necessory for a developing economy.
