I am passionate about students because of my own learning experience and the experiences of my four children. want to make sure that all students have an opportunity to learn and learn the way they need to. I don't want anyone to feel hindered by time or processes that are governed by officials. Students need patience and sometimes just repetition to understand something. With each student I want to start where they are and build up. I also love finding out what the student likes and try my best to make the subject matter interesting to them based on what they like.
I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Mount Olive in NC. I received my Master's degree, my EdS degree and my PhD from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. My PhD is in Educational Leadership. I taught middle school math for 13 years and am very comfortable with that subject. I tutor math but I have also helped in other subjects as well. I love history and can tutor that also. I can help with most subjects although middle school math and pre-algebra are my favorites. I also love finance and financial literacy. I also teach test-taking skills.
While I taught school, I took students on trips to Costa Rica and Europe. It was a great way to see the world and combine my students in on this journey. I love for them to realize there is more to life that in their zip code.
I sing, play the piano, read and play with my grandson.
