Certified Tutor

I'm very passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals because students are our future and I strongly believe in each and every student that I have had the pleasure of working with! I received my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2009 and served as a Registered Nurse the following 11 years, working in Emergency Departments, Pediatrics, and Home Health. During working and traveling as a RN, I was able to meet and marry the love of my life and have a daughter. When COVID hit, I noticed my daughter struggling with reading in second grade, so I left nursing to stay at home with her and help her improve in her reading ability, which she did tremendously! Shortly after this, I began virtual tutoring working with students from ages 7-16 in reading, math, and science. My favorite subject to tutor was reading because I saw so many students struggle with reading and we were able to have so much fun during our reading tutoring sessions that sometimes the students actually forgot they were also learning. I became a certified teacher for grades K-6 three years ago and I currently teach third grade all subjects and I absolutely love my job and my students! I also recently became LETRS certified in the Science of Reading. I'm a firm believer that education is essential to our future and things cannot move forward without it. During my spare time, I enjoy playing with my daughter, spending time with my family, and scrapbooking!
