Certified Tutor
I graduated from Gallaudet University, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Art Education with a minor in Family Child Studies. My focus was teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in grades 1-12. While at Gallaudet, I volunteered as a tutor, teaching American Sign Language (ASL) to students in community educational homes. I also worked as a substitute teacher in ASL for students in three districts of county public schools.
Later, I graduated from Marymount University with a Master of Education in Education Curriculum and Instruction. My focus remained on teaching Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and becoming an American Sign Language teacher. I have experience in helping struggling students to prepare for their first American Sign Language tests, and we always have the most fun with the signspelling of the number and alphabetic letters and course with any topics of descriptions. I am currently learning how to work with the ASL portions of the practices and exams. I believe it is essential to motivate students in ASL as part of their education. I will return to pursue a Doctorate in the education program.
