I am a graduate of The University of Texas in El Paso, with endorsements in bilingual education and English as a Second Language. I am also a graduate of the University del Valle de Guatemala where I received my Bachelor's degree in Teaching Secondary High School English. In addition I have a TESOL certificate. Since graduation, I have travelled and taught English to children and adults in Guatemala and Honduras. I am fluent in Spanish and my many years in Central America has only increased my fluency and passion about the Spanish language. I've worked in bilingual schools in these countries as well as teaching adults going house to house. I am passionate about education especially from early childhood on. I also love helping adults who are looking to travel to Spanish-speaking countries.
I worked for six years teaching English to Chinese students of all ages to speak, read and write in English. I do not speak Chinese--and these children were amazing. They learned English! I love seeing student progress, whether students or adults. Maybe you will be my next success story!

In my free time, I enjoy cooking healthy meals, researching the latest health news and arranging my home according to the ancient Chinese energy flow principles called Feng shui. I have a hydroponics garden, which is a garden that is sustained entirely with water. The leafy green vegetables that are in a vertical container are a wonderful addition to my kitchen! I am passionate about social justice and making sure all people get a just and fair treatment in their lives. I love going into the schools to talk to students and show videos to them about historical friendships and bringing people together in an annual Festival in the summer. I am retired but I am very involved and engaged in my community.
