My teaching approach is deeply rooted in individualized education and support. I believe that to truly help students thrive, we must tailor our methods to their unique goals, learning styles, and ideal pace.
I identify as a twice exceptional student: I have been in advanced classes and programs since elementary school, and I have a learning disability. Drawing from my own experiences under these circumstances, I am confident that fostering a growth mindset in every learner and maintaining a high level of respect toward them will accelerate their level of success.
Rather than focusing on my students' deficiencies or ignoring growth opportunities in their areas of strength, I support them in meeting their goals. I understand the temptation to give up, particularly when one excels in one area but struggles in another, but these temptations lead to perfectionism and anxiety. I've confronted and overcame these challenges in my own journey, and I can help other students do the same.
I am currently pursuing a BS in Human Development & Family Sciences with a Teacher Certification, along with a Minor in Education at Texas State University. This path aligns with my lifelong dedication to education, which was strengthened during my high school years, during which I completed the Educational Track and received an Educational Aide I certificate through the Ready Set TEACH! program.
In order to receive this certificate, I completed two internships in elementary school classrooms: a kindergarten classroom and a third grade classroom. After receiving this certificate, I became a paraprofessional for a summer school program with the same school district. During that same year, I tutored Reading at Kumon. These opportunities have provided me with valuable insights into various teaching methods and classroom dynamics.
My core values drive me to persevere in the face of adversity, and I want to instill this same motivation in every student I work with. My goal is to inspire them to push through any obstacle on their path to success. Education is not just a means to acquire knowledge; it is a vehicle for empowerment, personal growth, and breaking down barriers. I am committed to being a catalyst for that transformation in the lives of my students, fostering a love for learning that will propel them forward in their educational journey.
