I graduated from the University of the Cumberlands, in Williamsburg, KY, with a BS in chemistry and minor in Biology in 1993. My academic focus was medical, and I was privileged to attend Boston University School of Medicine for one academic year before changing my career to analytical chemistry. I worked as an environmental analytical chemist for several years--as a radiochemist (nuclear chemistry), and in organic analysis (using gas chromatography). It was a thrilling career. I became interested in teaching when I worked as a part-time college chemistry tutor. I obtained my teaching license in 2000, and have taught many subjects like biology, physics, environmental science, and AP chemistry. My favorite subject nonetheless is chemistry. My educational philosophy is anyone can improve their grades/scores when they have clear goals, that are achievable, and the student is motivated to work hard, regardless of the challenges that lie ahead.
