Janie
Certified Tutor
Seeing students succeed in their studies brings me immense joy and pride. Being a part of their achievements is a privilege that I cherish every day. For the past 27 years, I have been dedicated to tutoring, ever since I first established my tutoring business. Throughout this journey, I have witnessed numerous children enter and leave my life, yet my love for what I do remains unwavering.
My education has been diverse, ranging from completing my O levels at school to further studies in college and through the Open University. These experiences have shaped my understanding and knowledge, enabling me to tutor in various subjects.
I specialise in maths and English from year 1 through to year 11 (keystages 1, 2, 3 and 4 (GCSE)), whilst also teaching geography, history and science (biology, chemistry and physics) from year 7 through to year 11 (keystage 3 and keystage 4(GCSE)).
Whether it is passing their GCSEs or year 6 SATs and all the exams in-between, dissecting literary works, helping children read using phonics and sounds as well as learn their timestables, mathematical problems and English grammar, punctuation and spelling, I relish every opportunity to help children succeed in their chosen subjects.
Although I have tutored in different subjects, I don't possess a particular favourite. My true passion lies in assisting children, regardless of the subject they are tackling. Each student possesses their unique strengths and weaknesses, and it is my role to help them unlock their potential and achieve their goals. By offering personalised support, I aim to guide and empower them on their educational journey.
I have recently helped a receptionist aged child in Finland pass her entrance exam to get into an English school there. We carry on working together to improve her English.
I approach my tutoring with a combination of passion and friendliness. I believe in cultivating a proactive and engaging learning environment, where children are encouraged to actively participate and remain focused. By creating an atmosphere of positivity and support, I strive to inspire confidence and enthusiasm within each student.
Outside of tutoring, I indulge in creative pursuits such as knitting and crocheting. I channel my creativity into crafting children's clothing and accessories that I sell at various craft fairs. However, my true source of joy and fulfilment lies in the companionship of my two rough collie dogs. They are not just pets to me; they are my cherished children, offering unconditional love and loyalty.
Even in my spare time, my dedication to my work is unwavering. I thrive on the satisfaction that comes from helping students succeed, and I am constantly brainstorming new ideas and innovative ways to enhance their learning experience. This commitment to constant growth and improvement is a testament to my unwavering passion for my profession.
I also have extensive experience in helping children with dyslexia and high functioning autism.
In conclusion, I am truly grateful for the opportunity to tutor and witness the growth and success of students. Guiding them towards their educational achievements is not just a job for me; it is a vocation that brings me fulfilment and purpose. With my years of experience, passion and commitment, I aim to continue making a positive difference in the lives of the children I have the privilege to work with.
