I graduated from Washington College in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in human development. I am currently licensed to teach K-6th grade in the state of Maryland and North Carolina. During 2020-2021, I taught Pre-Kindergarten at a private school in Pennsylvania, where I was nominated for teacher of the year by the families of my students. In 2021, I also received my TEFL certificate, which certifies me to teach English in a foreign language. Although I enjoy teaching many different subjects, my favorite subject to teach is reading! In fact, small group reading instruction is my strong suit. This past school year, I had almost half of my first graders reading at, or above, benchmark by the end of the 2022-2023 school year. One of my favorite aspects about teaching is building close connections with my students. It helps create a fun and interactive learning environment for both the teacher and the student. As a tutor, I strive to create a virtual classroom that allows my students to feel safe, interactive, and respected. No two students learn in the same way, which is why I want our classroom to be a place where students can be their most successful selves.
