Teaching children is something I am infinitely passionate about. Educating young people can be challenging yet rewarding; and I believe that I have the correct skillset, attitude and work-ethic for this role.

As a teacher, who has worked in both mainstream and special needs schools, I have gained a wealth of practical experience and knowledge and I feel confident in my ability to teach all of the national curriculum subjects fluently up to Key Stage 4. Working in Clare Lodge, I have liaised with 15- and 16-year-old girls who have experienced trauma. Due to their needs, as a teacher it is necessary to have an arsenal of approaches, devices and techniques which may include objects, visual aids and interactive technology as these tools can make learning an enjoyable challenge. It is important to understand that different methods work for different students.

Working in a range of settings has also developed my knowledge and understanding of monitoring, evaluating and reviewing. It helps identify each student's strengths, in order to leverage them against their weaknesses, using a plethora of approaches. Assessing children and identifying their limitations has helped raise standards and supported in meeting children's difficulties. I'm currently working as a SENCO in a special needs school helping the children achieve the best possible outcome to reach their potential and have the right life skills to support them in their future years. Completing education reports, collecting evidence and working with parents to assess the support children require has strengthened my ability to work with SEND children.

I find teaching enormously fulfilling and I believe as a Teacher, it would be my role to make education empowering and ensure my students develop a passion for learning. Ideally this passion would resonate with them enough to become independent, lifelong learners. I believe a cross-curricular approach to learning is beneficial, as it helps pupil formulate their own connections. I strive to plan lessons which are exciting, interactive and cross curricular; so that my students are provided with a fundamental skillset that is the important foundation of the rest of their learning. In religious studies, instead of a written comprehension or reading exercise I implement role play exercise to balance the learning styles. In science, I allow children to be practical in their learning and have first-hand experience which helps with their understanding.

Primary school teaching is not just about the diffusion of knowledge and skills, but also about behaviour and discipline. Whilst working in Clare Lodge, I have liaised with children that have a high level of behavioural needs. On some occasions I've restrained children to help control the dangers in the classroom. Undertaking CALM training to support these children has allowed me to develop techniques to manage behaviour effectively. Working with these children has also helped me to understand the importance of building positive relationships and the significant impact on their development.

I believe developing good relationships with a number of people is a key to success for a classroom teacher. I enjoy collaborative planning because not only does it allow me to learn from other colleagues and implement existing practise to my teaching, but also volunteer new directions and a fresh perspective. Working in a school setting, I have excellent opportunities such as working with different teachers and team teaching; enabling me to recognise the importance of good communication skills. This helped me develop my collaboration skills, exercising excellent co-ordination and teamwork; all which are beneficial towards the progress of children's learning. In my current position as a science lead, I collaborated with my colleagues to implement changes to teaching procedures in order to make a positive impact to the school. I asked for teachers to take pictures of first hand experiences in science, so that they are evident in the children's books. Also available for OFSTED to see when they assess children's learning.

During my experience, I also understood how important the teacher-parent relationship can be. I volunteered to take part in as many after school meetings with parents as possible, which allowed me to develop a better relationship with the children's parents and develop an insight into my students, which their parents had recognised but could not have been recognised in the classroom. This included areas such as the student's work ethic at home and their approach to independent learning via homework. I further developed this whilst participating in parents evening; discussing the child's progress with the parent and setting agreed targets together. Working with parents during the pandemic has also strengthened my ability to encourage parents to work co-operatively with the school and involve them in their child's education. Using SEESAW and E- learning as a home learning tool has allowed parents to see their children's work and engage with teachers.
I am committed to ensuring full inclusion and equality within the learning environment and I have a track record of successfully teaching children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL). I believe I can achieve inclusion through meticulous planning, the careful management of teaching assistants and the creative use of a range of resources. I can successfully differentiate learning opportunities to enable all learners, including gifted and talented pupils and those with SEN, to enjoy learning and achieve their learning goals.
Outside of the classroom, I have a keen interest in music, arts and sport such as badminton. I would hope to be able to make a positive impact outside of the classroom, at the school that I work for, by organising suitable events or extra-curricular activities. I would like to be able to have the opportunity to drive children to these events.
I have successfully employed a variety of effective approaches when teaching and have found that this variety of effective pedagogical techniques has led to many positive student outcomes. A key part of my career is helping students reach their potential, which can be achieved by focusing on children's abilities, potentials, strengths and weaknesses, when teaching. I am enthusiastic about education and always strive to do the best for my students. I am able to take on responsibility for learning and have experience of successfully managing a class. Furthermore, I hope to make an extremely positive impact within the school community, as an integral part of the committed teaching team.
