Teaching is a passion for me. I truly enjoy being able to connect with each and every student and help them to succeed in classes and in life.
I know how hard education is as I was a student at one time for many years. I keep this in mind always when I am teaching and customize my classes to help the students stay on track and keep focused as I have found the main reason for failure in school is that the students lose focus.
I post regular updates in the form of announcements; I send emails regularly to students who are lagging behind in any way. I keep on top of all of them so that they do not fail as their success is my goal and my job.
I am very active in any online discussion boards with them and hold office hours daily from 9-5 pm. I also hold the weekly lectures and give plenty of time for questions in each lecture. I send lecture notes to all my students so that during the week they have the notes to reflect on.
I have found that by doing all the above the students stay engaged. I also have a quick turn around time for any phone calls or emails the students may send me. This way I can help them right away when they are having a problem with the assignment.
Overall, the students I have taught have been successful. I have had a very low rate of students drop my classes over the years and I feel this is because of how involved I am with the students.
I do not just teach to receive a paycheck I truly teach because I love the interaction with the students. I love to see the looks on their face when they grasp a concept that was difficult for them before. Teaching is my passion. I understand that some schools are moving towards blended and online learning environments. I have extended experience in this environment. I use the same types of methods to keep my students engaged and focused on the tasks and assignments.
