Certified Tutor

Currently, I am an undergraduate student at the University of Birmingham studying towards a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry. My tutoring career first began during my A-level studies, in which I helped students in the years below me within my school to alleviate their GCSE Mathematics grades. From this, I discovered my passion for teaching and the rewarding feeling that comes with seeing progress, therefore, I advanced on to Southall Tuition Centre in which I worked with a teacher to present fun and engaging lessons to a group of 9-11 year olds in preparation for their 11+ examinations. I am honoured to have been part the 11+ process for this cohort as we achieved an 82% success rate, with 9 out of 10 also attending top grammar schools in their boroughs. Alongside achieving highly in my own studies, I worked as an After School Club Play Leader at a primary school for two years. Here, I was able to grasp each child's learning gaps and was able to help them where necessary to go over concepts they had misunderstood in class. I have an interactive, engaging and focussed approach to teaching. I feel that to fully understand a challenging topic, a student must have a good foundational knowledge to work from which can be built upon with advanced levels of difficulty. In my spare time, I enjoy meditation, yoga and some light swimming.
