I knew I wanted to become a teacher by the age of seven when I received my first blackboard for Christmas. I'm the middle child of three, so I insisted that my younger brother be my student all the time. After earning my degree, I continued in college until I completed my Doctor of Education. That's because I am a firm believer that everyone should continue learning new things (in school or otherwise). During my career, I've taught elementary school, been a literacy coach, and been an administrator. Because of my literacy coaching, I'm especially passionate about reading and writing. As a youngster, my father gave my siblings and me motorcycles (dirt bikes)go-carts and bicycles to ride. So, I was outside most of the time. In school, I played trombone in the band, and I twirled the baton until I graduated high school. When I'm not teaching, I like spending time with my family. We recently learned to play the game "Phase 10." We are all huge fans of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. I also enjoy reading (including fun, new literature for elementary students). I love all animals, and even had a ferret once! Right now, I have a crazy rescue furbaby (Boxer Mix) named "Zoey." She likes to learn new things, too, if treats are involved.
