Certified Tutor
I received my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from East Tennessee State University, licensed to teach PK - 3rd grade. I received a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Union College in Kentucky. Education Specialist Degree was obtained from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction. I taught third grade, all subjects and departmentalized in ELA and Social Studies, for 9 years at a school with 250 students. Then moved to a low socioeconomic school of 1,100 students, teaching second grade for 2 years before then moving into an assistant administer position for 2 years. After those 2 years, received the position of administrator at a small PK-8 school of 200 students until it closed four years later. Currently, working as administrator of a PK-5 school with 360 students. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English and Math, as these are the core areas in which to build upon all other subjects. In my experience helping struggling students better understand the foundations of reading and mathematics is the greatest accomplishment. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, especially biographies, and baking. I am learning to decorate cookies, which do not always look as I had envisioned but always taste good. A new passion, that I have just realized in the last two years, is the frustrating, challenging, yet addicting game of golf.
