Hola! Soy Claudia.
I am a qualified and experienced native- Spanish language teacher from Colombia. I am also qualified to teach ESOL.

I have acquired a wide range of skills and knowledge based on more than 20 years of practical experience teaching in Colombia, England, and Costa Rica. I have taught students from diverse backgrounds, ages, and varying ability levels.

I hold a Bachelor of Education in Modern Languages, Spanish & English, and a Postgraduate Degree: Specialist in Teaching Foreign Languages, English & Spanish. I have a Diploma Certificate in ELE (Teaching Spanish as a foreign language) from Universidad Complutens in Madrid. Besides, I earned an MA in Bilingual Translation from the University of Westminster in London.

I am passionate about teaching languages. I love sharing with my students the knowledge I have gained from different cultures while living overseas and in my country, Colombia, motivating them to understand better the purpose and benefits of learning a foreign language as a communicative tool.


I have experience teaching Sixth-Form-age students. I worked at Luton Sixth Form College in England for four years, where I taught A-levels, IB years 1&2, and Business Spanish for beginner CBLC entry-level. It was a wonderful and challenging teaching experience preparing and helping the A-level students to succeed in their final exams. It was always a rewarding feeling when the students got their final results. Additionally, I have experience with GCSE and AS-level students, guiding and supporting them with the assessment preparation. I have worked with AQA and Edexcel Exam Boards.

I have been an online Spanish tutor since 2017. Working as an online Spanish tutor, I have acquired skills in designing interactive material to support students learning and improve their reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills. Besides, I assign activities online to facilitate students' consolidation of learning material and use various media tools and resources to assist students in their learning process. I am always willing to work with various modern language teaching techniques to support the students' learning process.

Furthermore, I have taught adults conversational classes and Spanish for all purposes. Lessons are tailored to the students' needs and interests. The main focus of the classes is to engage my students from the beginning, make them feel comfortable, and help them enjoy their learning process and progress. I am very patient and enthusiastic, always willing to adapt material and content to the student's needs and expectations.
