Certified Tutor
I am passionate about education, and about life-long learning in particular. I returned to education in my 40s and gained a PhD in English Literature from Canterbury Christ Church University in 2021. I also have a BA(hons) in English & History, a Master's degree in Dickens & Victorian Culture, and a PGCE (lifelong-learning) teaching qualification. There is no 'right' age to learn: if you want to learn, I can help you; if you need to learn - eg: for an exam or specific career opportunity - I can help you there too. I specialise in English Literature, Language and Creative Writing, all of which I have taught to adult students in the UK for more than 13 years. I am based in the UK, and I have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren.

I love literature - reading it, discussing it, or writing about it - and my speciality is the Victorian era. I am Joint Honorary General Secretary of the Dickens Fellowship and I give talks on topics related to Dickens and/or other aspects of Victorian literature and culture. I also work part-time for a church organisation and keep fit by cycling and Morris dancing. I also enjoy spending time with my 5 adorable little grandchildren and/or walking my dog (a Lhasa Apso called Pebbles).
