I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I earned a Bachelor's Degree in English from Texas A&M University at San Antonio in 2019. After taking classes for three years in Science for a nursing degree, I decided to change my major and changed it to Education. I have always enjoyed reading and discovered in my study that writing came naturally! My main reason for changing major is because of my son who is a Special Needs student and I needed to learn the laws and the type of education he deserved as a student with special needs. My degree and career are dedicated to my son and all students who deserve an education no matter their learning capabilities.
I currently teach English at the high school level and I have taught English IV since the Fall of 2019 starting with my Clinical Internship for graduation. I was then hired in the Spring of 2020 to teach English III, six weeks later as everyone knows, Covid hit forcing our schools to shut down. The following Fall of 2020 we came back to a year of online learning. I began my first full year of teaching English IV and have had an amazing experience since then.
The students I have taught not only were the best students a new teacher could ask for, but also taught me a few things. Remote learning was new to the teaching world, and my students guided me through the challenges and for that I will forever be grateful to them. The month of May has been one of the hardest moments in my life. Saying goodbye to these amazing students the past three years has been so difficult, but rewarding at the same time!
