Certified Tutor

I am a current second-year at the University of Virginia, studying Biochemistry and Computer Science. I have deep aspirations in going to medical school and eventually pursing a career in orthopedics but have always been passionate in the art of teaching. Throughout my high school career, I created a free weekly tutoring program for underprivileged students in my area called GIVE Youth. The program quickly grew to have around thirty students, all from different backgrounds. I truly believe that those fortunate enough to have access to a quality education are bound to assisting others, with altruism as the sole motivation. I've also worked at Mathnasium, tutoring math of course, and test prep. These experiences have allowed me to tutor a variety of students, refining my own teaching skills in the process. I am a big proponent of building strong content foundations for students, allowing them to master prerequisite skills before advancing to rigorous topics. This strategy allows for a steady progression in overall learning and minimizes burnout. I am most comfortable teaching Chemistry, Biology, Algebra, and Calculus, but am willing to venture into other subjects as needed. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy weightlifting, watching football/tennis, and playing chess.
