Certified Tutor

I am a graduate from East Carolina University located in North Carolina. Go Pirates!!! My course of study is in University Studies with a concentration in Pedagogy Studies. I am currently an elementary school teacher. I have been working in the education field for 7 years. However. my experience working with children goes beyond 7 years. From tutoring high school biology, working in after-school programs to help tutor elementary school children, and being an instructional assistant for a public school located in eastern North Carolina, I have over 13 years of experience. While I can tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about elementary math.
I love to teach children and to witness their growth. With strong instruction and using data (students' measurement of growth in a skill) to show a student's growth is very important in education. I always teach my students to have a growth mindset meaning to have a positive way of thinking. Teaching students to believe in themselves and their learning can help turn negative thoughts to positive ones. Showing students that learning can be fun and engaging is another aspect of teaching. Children are the future, and the importance of preparing students is always a priority.
