I am currently going into my third year as a PhD student in Music Composition at the Eastman School of Music. I received my master's and bachelor degrees at Johns Hopkins University and Ithaca College respectively. I have taught in many environments ranging from middle school classrooms to a professional level audio research studio. I tutor music, music theory as well as study skills and organization. As a working musician, music is obviously my favorite subject to teach to students since it has been a gigantic part of my life since I was a small child. My teaching philosophy is to gear my approach to a student's learning style as much as I possibly can. With music, this is especially important given that it is an abstract concept that can be explained to someone in so many different formats and people come from so many diverse backgrounds, personally as well as musically. When I'm not composing or teaching, I love to run, read whenever I can, learn new recipes and go to museums around Rochester.
