I am an aspiring future Internal Medicine Resident. I have completed medical school in India, and I was a licensed physician working in my home country, Sri Lanka, for several years prior to moving to the United States in 2014. Upon moving here, I took a break from my career to care for my daughter. At this point, I have completed all my United States medical licensing exams, and I have also completed a Master of in Public Health at Purdue University.
Throughout my medical career and Public Health related work, I have always enjoyed teaching and training staff and juniors. Throughout my medical exams, I used teaching others as a method of helping me learn and understand complex concepts better. Also, while working as a physician, I have had to breakdown complex disease processes into simpler terms in order to make patients understand their conditions better. I am quite passionate about teaching. Currently I also work as an Adjunct Faculty at Ivy Tech Community College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, teaching Anatomy and Physiology for Associate degree students.
After taking medical licensing exams in three different countries, I can confidently say that I am quite comfortable in teaching science or healthcare related subjects: Biology, Pharmacology, Anatomy and Physiology etc. I like helping others achieve their full potential and I hope I can meet the needs of my students that I meet in this platform.
