Certified Tutor

I have worked as a Help Desk Tech and Data Communications Tech at Tulane University in a previous life. After a brief (25 year) radio career I have found my way back into the IT industry.

I have spent many hours running tutoring workshops and Bootcamps to help students achieve their certification outside of the classroom environment. In this capacity, I feel like I have found my calling, which is teaching and impacting people's lives by helping them obtain their certifications.

While every certification has concepts that needs explaining (subnetting, for example), I also spend an equal amount of time teaching test taking skills. These skills include learning to read the answers and see if there is any grouping that can be done. In addition, I teach how to read the question and focus on what I call the "two all beef patties" of what is being asked. In doing so, a student ends up saving time on the exam and is able to focus on the PBQ's, for example, which tend to be time consuming.
